Jordan and family will be going to Spokane, WA for a Karate Tournament called the Inland Empire Martial Arts Tournament.
We found out about the tournament from PMA Walla Walla (our martial arts school) were others in the XDT Demo team also plan to attend. IEMAT is a martial arts tournament held in Spokane, Washington and is open to all styles and ages. It is one of the few organized tournaments in the northwest that is open to different styles.
Jordan is going to compete in the IEMAT before we go to Orlando, Florida for the Karate U.S. Open in June. This will probably be his first tournament that he will actually compete in. We wish him luck as he will be practicing almost daily for this.

While the boys pratice and play around with the Karate they have learned, I have thought we needed a way to warn people to keep a safe distance away. With the help of the “Karate Brothers”, we took an image of them kicking during their play and made this “Caution” sign for them to wear.
With the assistance of www.cafepress.com/ karatebrothers we are able to offer others the opportunity to wear this caution sign, have on a coffee mug or other items available with the image on it. If and when we get other little creative ideas we hope to ad to the items available.

Roland Osborne’s Website
Hey, we think Roland’s website looks great. It is definitely easier to find some stuff and looks really cool.
One of the coolest things about it, is Jordan’s Picture is on Roland’s website. When Jordan won the “last One Standing” kicking competition during Roland’s visit to Walla Walla and putting on a seminar. Jordan was told that his picture of him and Roland would be put on his website.
We of course had a few of our own pictures too.

Jordan, currently an orange belt, has had interest in learning the Broad Sword. While watching a borrowed video, he learned a short beginning form and has been anxiously showing “sir” and “maam” what he has learned about “Kung Fu” and the “Broad Sword”. Both “sir” and “maam” have some training in Kung Fu or related style of martial arts. Jordan always likes to learn his “normal” karate, but never will miss a chance to learn something else to impress his instructors.
Jordan had just recently received a Kung Fu Uniform which he was very excited about, he wanted the red button and cuffs. I have to admit he does look pretty sharp in it.
After watching the Broad Sword Video, a dozen or more times, Jordan was pretty good at the form and sir asked Jordan if he could teach a “Premier Class” of some kids a bit older than him and in higher belts. Jordan was very excited to get the chance to help out and at the same time show off a little bit. At the class, Whitney and Jolene were there to learn the form and then after a class or two, they would help teach the others in their class. They were really learning pretty quickly and Jordan did a good job being an Instructor.

Jordan and Kyler have been talking about making a DVD to help other kids learn some basic karate, kicks, punches, chops and a couple short forms. With the help of dad doing the videoing and editing, we might have a little DVD to sell and maybe make a little money from it to help pay for the XDTeam to get to the US Open 2006.
Jordan has been thinking of what to put on the DVD all day long, and is planning in his head all that we can put on the DVD. Dad is helping him with what might need to be said to help instruct the kids to help learn the basic techniques. This will be a “Kids Karate DVD” by a couple kids, also known as the “Karate Brothers”.
We are also thinking about making pages that will help kids learn some of the basics of karate with pictures and some down loadable videos. We hope to have some of this information up shortly.
Come back soon to visit again.

Kyler had a good time at the Roland Osborne seminars, but I think he had even more fun when his friends showed up for the “Buddy Bash”. The Buddy Bash was a time to invite friends to the karate school and for them to meet Roland and get a “FREE” basic karate class with Mr. Osborne.
In the picture is Cadyn, Kyler and Nathan. They are really good friends and he hopes they get to come to karate classes with him some time. Kyler has taught them the order and colors of the belts, tried to teach them the basics of punches and kicks too.
Kyler is getting pretty good at the knunchaku’s so I call him “knunchaku master”. I think he likes that.

What an event put on by Premier Martial Arts of Walla Walla! The classes with Roland Osborne were a great benefit to the boys. The first class was the “Kicking” class. Mr. Osborne went through the basics of kicking to help all the students attending and then kicked it into high gear for the more advanced. With the Dojo full of kids, teens and a few adults(myself included), everybody had a good sweat going from all the kicking activities.
One of the activities was the “Last One Standing ” (click for video 14mb) kicking contest where we were asked to do a high round kick as many times as we could without putting down our foot. Jordan and a few others, who had already been doing 25 to 50 kicks during our “kicking machine” practice in class, were some of the finalists that went into a tie-breaker. Roland would then decide the winner by who was doing the most and highest kicks. Now with more at stake, the other finalists were forced to kick higher than they had been in the previous round and Jordan was able to kick higher and longer than the others. Jordan was declared the winner by Roland Osborne and later took this picture after the class ended. Roland had a picture taken with his camera and said he would put it up on his website(Link to Jordan). He is also on a random image on the front page at this time.
Jordan, Kyler and all the other students were able to meet Mr. Roland Osborne and purchase some of his DVD’s, get autograph’s, and take pictures with him.
This picture was taken right after Roland signed Kyler’s headband and when he took off the headband his hair looked remarkably similar to Roland’s. Roland was signing many autographs on all types of memorabelia including bo staffs, shirts, kamas, gis, belts and “Go Warrior” flyers. We did get our share of autographed items and want to thank Mr. Osborne and PMA for the opportunity to meet Roland and learn better techniques.
Jordan is admittedly very excited about winning the “Last One Standing” and even more excited that his picture might be on the website of one of his favorite martial artists.
